I've just returned to Crown Heights from Shabbos at the Rebbe's Ohel.
My sincere wish is that the Rebbe's brochos for peace and unity in the shechunah are with us.
I spoke briefly to Rabbi Rosenberg before Shabbos. He intends to attend the hachtorah, but will not be able to confirm with any certainty until tomorrow morning.
The local websites are reporting that Rabbi Osdoba has publicly announced that he will not attend the hachtorah. I haven't had the opportunity to speak with the Rabbi directly since those reports. I realize that it's very difficult for him to reconsider now that his statements were made public, but I'm hoping that he might be persuaded to attend in spite of his personal objections to the psak.
It's important to reiterate that the Vaad Hakohol is obligated to carry out the psak of the zabl"o, and make Rabbi Braun the third rov of the Beis Din. There has been much talk about certain parties attempting to obtain an ikul from another beis din. If there is an ikul, of course we are obligated to comply. As of now, there has been no intervention from any other beis din, and therefore the hachtorah must take place as mandated by the psak.
A gute voch
