Dear brothers and sisters, friends, and fellow residents of Crown Heights,
It is with much regret that I inform you of my intention to suspend use of my web site. I was under the mistaken belief that my direct communication with you through my site would add a sense of confidence and clarity regarding community related matters. The site was intended to increase unity in our community and allow for bare, accurate information to be delivered directly to the public as the decisions were being made. In fact, what has developed instead is a growing sense of mistrust and resentment between my colleagues and myself.
Almost every party mentioned on my site in past few weeks has complained about my methods of reporting and it has caused great strain on my relationships in the Vaad Hakohol. It has always been my position that reporting directly to the public is the preferred method of operation and my position has not changed in that regard.
However, it is beyond my capacity to report directly to you at a time that is premature and absent the consent of my colleagues. This has been my mistake and I humbly request apology from anyone that took offense to my reporting. The financial matters of Vaad Hakohol will be reported to the Nitzigim as mandated in the bylaws as soon as the Netzigim are reestablished.
Additionally, I must add that several matters that I discussed on my site regarding the position taken by others has been inaccurate and I ask the reader to consider that all the information gained thus far from my site has been merely a reflection of my perspective and point of view.
Moreover, I am requesting that the websites remove recent articles associated with the vaad’s decisions to hire or employ any specific individuals because in fact the matters have not been confirmed in that respect and the issues have not been adequately verified by the entire vaad.
It is my sincere belief that we are at the threshold of great change for the better or worse we are in this together, and while reasonable minds may differ on virtually every single topic we ironically share the same goals. We find ourselves in a very delicate time, a time that a foundation must be established and reinforced. The Vaad Hakohol needs support and reorganization and I hereby concede to my colleagues that it is in the best interest of our community to allow for the Vaad to have a break from heavy laid scrutiny.
Crown Heights, you are my home, and it is by your success that mine will be measured and indeed it is for that end, peace, and in your honor that I have welcomed the burden public service upon myself.
Readers are welcome to leave comments on the site but do not expect an update till an undetermined date in February, at a time when the entire Vaad will consent to the content released and at a time when the information represents a unified view point as opposed to fragments of information.
Farewell for now and be blessed.
Very truly yours,
Zaki Tamir
Zaki,
ReplyDeleteBe strong. You are on the right path. Yes, you need to work in unison with the other elected official. We are proud of you!
Chazak Ve'ematz! Hatzlacha Raba!
It is a shame that the voice of reason has been silenced. Perhaps it is the fear of knowledge, or just plain shady - but a great loss. I took comfort in knowing that you were on top of things and telling us what was going on without having to rely on rumors in the mikvah in shul.
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed these updates. Sorry to see it go
ReplyDeleteThank you for the hard work you are doing to right our community.
ReplyDeleteit's about time you focus on doing your work instead of posting here for attention
ReplyDeletebe strong!
ReplyDeleteit was nice while it lasted!
heres a suggestion
how about making a Blog style site on the CHJJC official website, with all members okaying the posts before they go up, or a vote on the editor, something it that regard.
Please keep your word and post the Image of Rabbi Braun's Hachtorah certificate.
ReplyDeleteOy Zaki,
ReplyDeleteChaval that it had to come to this. Stay strong and keep up the great work!

There is nothing wrong with Tamir saying he needs the approval of the other members before making public statements.
ReplyDeleteThere is also nothing wrong with the other 2 members saying that they want to be consulted first on exactly what to say and how to say it, before public statements are released.
The real problem is though that the other 2 Vaad members, don't do that either!
Pirkey Avos says there are 4 Midos Benosney Tzedaka - 4 different ways of how people who give to others behave.
1) I will give (do) and I welcome others to also give and do as I do.
2) I will give but no one else may (I want to be the only one doing it)
3) Pass the Buck and say that Others need to give and do but not me.
4) I will not give and I want to make sure that no one else will give either.
Same is here, regarding the Tamir Blog.
If the other 2 Vaad Members want to have a say, that's fine as long as they "ACTUALLY do" the same as Tamir did.
Let all 3 have similar blogs or let them all unite together and issue a joint statement several times per day, just like Tamir did.
But it seems that the other 2 Vaad Members chose option 4 above in that they don't want to let Tamir do it, yet they refuse to do it themselves either.
The Public has a right to know what's going on behind closed doors in all public matters concerning the community.
Community matters should no remain behind closed doors unless we want to allow corruption to flourish, (as in the past) which is only possible as long as they keep everything secret and do not report their daily progress or lack thereof.
What the public wants to know, more than anything else is, if the 3 Elected Rabbonim have ever met together, yet.
ReplyDeleteWe all hope and pray that the 3 Rabbonim as well as the 3 Vaad Members), are all Team Players.
The Orignal Psak Din by Rabbi Rosenberg mentioned that as a stipulation that after the elections for the new 3d Rav, they will all sit together, deliberate together and sign things only together.
The Orginal Psak Din by Rabbi Rosenberg stipulates that if anyone refuses, he's out. Thearfore we are sure that everyone is certainly working together but we would all feel a lot better if we would know that it's actually happening, Bepoal Mamash.
There will be a time that people who leave comments will be able to be traced. It is interesting that under "anonymous" what one will be bold enough to write. I wonder if there is technology that would be able to trace it. Hmm, i wonder.....
ReplyDeleteAnyone sweating under the collar yet?
I am signing this anonymous :)
I dont mind though if i am discovered :)
I agree with the previous commentator, if they do not all work together we will just be back to square one with the only difference being that it will now be two against one, nothing will have improved.
ReplyDeleteIt is the Vaad's job to stop paying the salary of any Rov who refuses to work with his pear's
Whats wrong with you posting from your perspective? Just dont write about any polices and decision of the Vaad till the're finalized
ReplyDeleteQuestion to our Rosh Hakohol:
ReplyDeleteI need your advice what to answer to my 17 year old son.
My son asked me what is all the excitement about the recent election and inauguration of our new Rav for the Badatz?
Who needs a Badataz anyway, he asked me?
I explained to him that although anyone can ask any private halachic question to any knowledgeable person, yet it is only these 3 Rabbonim of our Badataz who’s Psak Din is binding and must be adhered to by everyone.
My son asked me:
I a Rov himself doesn't listen to a Psak Din, even of his own hand picked Zabla then why should anyone else listen to any authority?
I told him that I am sure everyone will listen to the Psak Din and that it's impossible to contemplate, even a possibility, of anyone not listening to the Psak Din.
My son was not convinced that what I said was the actual current reality.
I don't want my son to drop Yidishkeit like so many others have done.
What can I say to my son to restore his Kovod for our Rabbonim?
There is a very good book that everyone should read (get it free online or in the library) called:
ReplyDelete"Off The Derech"
Why observant Jews leave Judaism - How to respond to the challenge.
On Page # 283 Under the Heading of Hypocrisy he writes that according to the infamous Rav Saadiah Gaon, the reason why most people drop Yidishkeit is because they are turned off by the Hypocrisy of those they are to look up to.
Furthermore the author says that an actual recent survey, 62% responded that it was Hypocrisy which made them drop Yidishkeit.
I feel that it's the highest calling of the Vaad hakohol to save the community by eliminating Hypocrisy, beginning with all the places where our youth is to look up to.
re "Off the Derech" - it's not a very good book. I own it and read it and she makes numerous errors and arrives at erroneous conclusions.
ReplyDeleteTo JR
ReplyDeleteI have not read the entire book and you may be right about not everything in the book being so great.
But one thing is for sure that a very major reason we are loosing our youth is when they look up to those whom they are to respect and see that they themselves are hypocrites because they don't follow Torah and Halacha themselves and so the children say that if the Rav doesn't listen to a Psak, then why should anyone else.
The children basically look at all the "higher ups" and say “they are all full of it" and they drop the entire religion in disgust.
Many years ago, right after all the Rabbonim were first elected, one of the Gaboim in 770 didn't give the Aliyah of Aseres Hadibros to any of the newly elected Badatz Rabbonim.
ReplyDeleteThe Rebbe spoke about it and said it was an Arkese Demisane and the Gabai was subsequently dismissed.
I trust that this Shabbos Rabbi Braun will get the Aseres Hadibros, so that we don't have a repeat of this Arkese Demisane and the inevitable affect on the Gabai.
It's definitely a problem but our main strength is in our homes. If parents don't speak cynically and negatively, if parents have positive things to say about their mashpia and other worthy people, if parents raise their children with their heads on straight - then their children are not likely to use the cop-out of "they are all ..." Because it is a cop-out.
ReplyDeleteDear Zaki,
ReplyDeleteWe, the community, had elected you because it was mandated by Rabbi Rosenberg's Psak Din of the Zabla Beis Din, with the understanding that you will act in accordance with the Psak Din.
Therefore, you are not empowered to act on behalf of the community if it contradicts Rabbi Rosenberg's Psak Din which was the entire basis of your election.
The Psak Din requires all party to comply with the Psak Din and so it follows that any party who refuses should not be rewarded by any benefits of the Psak Din as long as that party maintains an open defiance against compliance with the Psak Din.
Specifically, anyone who openly Boycotts the Hachtara, then refuses to see the Newly Elected rav, repeatedly, then "goes on strike" and doesn't come to 770 because the New rav will get Aseres Hadibros, is certainly not in compliance.
Certainly it would be forbidden for him to get a paid salary, from community funds, as long as he openly defies the Psak Din.
You can't have it both ways.
The Vaad Hakohol is in effect the "employer" who has to pay the workers of the community which includes the elected officials voted in, namely the Rabbonim.
No employer pays any employee as long as he is in open defiance with the entire primary terms of his employment.
The primary terms are to be a Beis Din and that entails working TOGETHER and so anyone who refuses to be a Team Player can't get paid.
In secular Law, even if someone is in full compliance with the law, themselves, but they actively support someone else's unlawful behavior, they can be considered to be "acting in concert" of the unlawful behavior.
ReplyDeleteIn addition whoever pays him and supports that behavior could also be found guilty of the same crime even though they didn't do it themselves only had financially supported the individuals bahavior.
Therefore I think it's incumbent on the Vaad Hakohol to make sure, that anyone who is on the Vaad Hakohol Parole, are only those who are in full compliance with all secular laws, as well as in full compliance with the Psak Din of the Zabla.
According to the Psak Din of Rabbi Rosenberg, the CHK belongs to the Vaad Hakohol yet much time has elapsed since the Psak Din and the CHK remains legally and officially incorporated as a private business corporation, where to date the Vaad Hakohol still has no direct control over it's operations nor it's income.
ReplyDeleteFor any business to succeed it needs a lot of Sayata Dishmaya (Divine Help).
If a company uses a Hechser which is in dispute as to who owns it, then it becomes very difficult, if not impossible, to get Hashems Bracha of 'Barchenu Avinu Kulanu K'Echad', when people inadvertently (perhaps no fault of their own) support a Hechsher which involves a disputed ownership.
Rubashkin's plant had supported such a disputed Hechsher (i.e. the CHK) before they were forced out of business and later Ahava Milk company was forced out of business and now Emes Milk.
The key to Bracha and Hatzlacha is only via Sholom and Sholom as achieved only when people listen to the Psak Din of the Zabla.
There is an article about the Vaad Hakohol's CHK, on the vosizneias.com web site

ReplyDeleteOne of the comments on that article writes:
By Yossi Tue., Jan. 25 at 12:30 pm
This company produced milk under the Brand name 'EMES Milk' (and a few other brands too)
The Rabbinical supervision on it was by a Rabbinical Supervising Agency called the "CHK".
Many leading authorities believe that there is a divine curse which befalls any company who uses the CHK because the Rabbinical supervising company is involved in a ownership dispute.
What was once the nations largest meat processor, a company called AGRI has used this "CHK" and was the target of nations largest Raid which subsequently put them out of Business.
This Milk plant previously owned under the Brand name 'Ahava Dairy' had also used this disputed Rabbinical Supervision called the "CHK' and like AGRI, Ahava was also forced out of business.
Now for the 3d time, the same company once again producing 'Emes Milk' with this same 'CHK' symbol has once again scummed to what many believe is a divine curse against anyone who supports a Kosher Supervision entity whose ownership may be disputed.
